HOW TO


How to Register on the site

  • CLICK HERE TO REGISTER.
  • Under "Username" enter your Full Name (first name + family name), as opposed to a nickname or fantasy name.
  • Enter your email and a memorable password
  • Click "Create Account"
  • Your details will now be registered and you will be able to login with them
  • On the homepage, click on "If you are new to the site", which will take you to a page of useful information about the site, which we compiled especially for new members. 
  • If you have any problems with registering contact our web admin.

How to Login

  • At the top of each page, below the logo is a link called "Login or Register"
  • Use this link to Login, by clicking on it, otherwise click here
  • You will be taken to a new window
  • Enter the Username you created OR your email address e.g. Bob Smith
  • Enter the password you created when you registered. (If you cannot remember it see below)
  • Click Login

How to reset or recover your password

  • Click here
  • A new page will open
  • If you are logged in, click "Email new password"
  • If you are not logged in, enter your email address and click "Email new password"
  • Click on the link an email you will have now received
  • (It may be sent to your Spam/Trash folder in your email so please check)
  • Click on this link in the email and you will be taken to a new window, where you can edit your details
  • Scroll down to "Password" and enter new password in both boxes
  • Scroll to bottom of page and click "Save"
  • Once you have done this you can now use your new password to Login

How to edit your Profile page and add details

  • Click on your name in the top right corner of the screen
  • This will take you to your profile page, which will not contain much yet
  • To add information there is a grey tab called "Edit", click on this
  • It will open a pop-up window into which you can add your info
  • Read each title above each box and enter the appropriate information
  • Click Save at the bottom of the page and your done.

How to add a Profile picture (Avatar) - change your email address - change your password

  • To add a Profile picture, change your email address or password there is an option 
  • It is found on your Profile page, under the grey "Edit" tab
  • A pop-up window appears when you click "Edit"
  • It is under "username and email address"
  • When you arrive to the new page click the grey "Edit" tab there also to change these details
  • Alternatively click here, when logged in then click the grey "Edit" tab 

How to create a Forum topic

  • You must be logged in to do this, see above how to Login or Register
  • In the main menu, there is a tab called "Forums" click on this
  • At the top of this page is a link called "Add new Forum topic"
  • Click on this and a window will pop-up where you can add a new Forum topic
  • In this window enter the title of your topic in the "Subject" box
  • Below this is a box entitled "Forums", click on this to select the most appropriate category under which your topic should appear
  • Enter your info into the large white box
  • Click "Save" at the bottom of the page
  • Your new Forum topic will appear under the Category you selected on the Forums page

How to start a Blog

  • You must be logged in to do this, see above how to Login or Register
  • In the main menu, there is a tab called "Blogs" click on this
  • At the top of this page is a link called "Create new blog entry"
  • Click on this and a window will pop-up where you can add a new Blog
  • In this window enter the title of your topic in the "Title" box
  • Enter your info into the large white box
  • Click "Save" at the bottom of the page
  • Your new blog will appear at the top of the Blogs page

How to Stay Up to date

Social Networking

  • To connect with us in our other webspaces such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube please see our social networking icons near the top right of this website.

Email

  • Receive our newsletter to get the latest (we will not send you spam)
  • When commenting on a forum, blog or any content, tick the box "Notify me when new comments are posted" before you submit content to be sent email updates
  • If you want to follow a forum, blog or any content, then tick the box "Notify me when new comments are posted" above the comments area, and write "subscribe" in the comment area
  • Email team@schoolofcommoning.com, for any specific updates

RSS feeds

  • Get updates on new content added to any page of the site by entering its URL in your Feed Reader (if you don't have a feed reader, see here for details)

Homepage

  • If none of the above are for you, then simply check out the Homepage to see new hot content!!!

 

How to add a File to a forum

  • When creating a new Fourm Topic or commenting on one, 
  • at the bottom of the area where you add content 
  • is the option "Add Attachment"
  • Click on "Choose File"
  • and find your file on your computer, double click on it
  • click on "Upload"
  • You may now proceed to save your message
  • If you feel the file is of importance to the website as a whole, then proceed to the Library where you can add documents
